You will always have a special place in my heart. When I got to go to my first Cubs vs. Cards series last season, do you know what jersey I picked to wear? It was yours, Z. Yes, it was the cheapest jersey online (I bought it for $0.99 from some company in Japan), but I wore that Blue uni with pride. I will miss watching your temper tantrums. I hope you enjoy working on your tan and you are able to persevere and finally get that World Series ring you have always wanted. When you do when that ring, you can mail it to me so I can wear it proudly for a day or two (and I will make sure to send it back in mint condition.) Thanks for the memories.

I would like to take this time to congratulate Dodgers Pitcher, Clayton Kershaw, for winning the NL Cy Young.

Also, congratulations to Tigers Pitcher, Justin Verlander, for winning the AL Cy Young award.

Both fellows deserved this high honor.

Backstory on the Cy Young Award:

• The award is named after Hall of Fame pitcher, Cy Young.
• Cy Young  holds the record for most innings pitched (7,355).
• It's the highest honor given to the best pitchers in MLB. There is one winner in the American League and one winner in the National League.
• Only pitchers win this award.
• The award was first introduced in 1956 by then Commissioner, Ford Frick.
• The winner is voted on by the members of the Baseball Writers Association of America.

I AM HEATED!!!

MLB, you and I are not on good terms...

So, Major League Baseball deems it necessary to prohibit major news announcements during the World Series. What a bunch of CROCK! Okay, so if Bud Selig, or Roger Clemens, or Nolan Ryan, or Randy Johnson should happen to pass away during the World Series, MLB won't announce it 'till both teams are 'traveling'? This is the most ridiculous thing I have heard in a really, really long time. 

Baseball is my favorite sport. I eat, breathe and sleep baseball. I know the ends-and-outs of the game. I am the only girl that can explain, to you, what the infield fly rule is. I know every pitcher that has pitched a perfect game and I can tell you everything else baseball wise that is thrown my way. I do not hate the game, but I do not like the men who are running the sport into the ground.

Rules that should be changed in MLB, immediately:

1)                              MLB consists of 162 games, per team. That is a ridiculous amount of games. The season is too long. By the time August rolls around, baseball loses a lot of fans, due to football starting. Yes, the ‘Hunt for October’ is one of many reasons why I love the game of baseball, but in order to capture fans’ attention, MLB has to shorten up the season and walk away from the month of October. Why would someone watch six games during the Regular Season and then wait until October for the Playoffs? The games would mean a lot more if there were only 82 games played during the Regular Season and only fifteen games in the Post Season. A five-game series would put more emphasis on the Series and make it more exciting.

Instead, MLB should structure their season like so:

·         Football season tends to end in late January/early February. MLB should seize up this great opportunity! Instead of starting the season in April, start the season in early March. The weather wouldn’t be much of factor and teams wouldn’t have to play in August, where fields can get up to 113 degrees.

·         Cut-back games from 162 to 80.  

·         Only 15 games should be played in the Postseason. It’ll make the Series much more exciting. No one wants to see 162 games played and then have a World Series team be swept. There is no excitement in that. Also, if make the game dull, your team will be penalized.

2)      Yes, MLB did try to speed up the game, but are you, Bud Selig, going to punish Josh Beckett, Josh Johnson, Roy Halladay, Roy Oswalt and Cliff Lee because they pitched ‘too slow’? That is what makes the game so great. Pitchers out on the mound, 10,000 fans yelling at them, and it’s just the pitcher and the batter. It’s what I love about the game, but you can’t punish someone because they ‘slowed’ down the game a mere 3 minutes.

3)                              GET RID OF THE DESIGNATED HITTER!!! Background - In order to boost revenue and scores, baseball team owners gave birth to the DH in 1972. The pitcher’s shouldn’t get a pass, just because they don’t know how to run or hit a ball, but if they can pitch lights-out and hit a pop-fly to RF to help their team score, more power to them. Pitchers should be able to help their team out defensively and offensively. Why can’t the SS only play in the field, but never once shows his face at the plate? The National League brings excitement and in close games, managers must decide whether or not to pinch hit for the pitcher. Then, what should the other team do? Should they keep their pitcher in or go to the bullpen? This may take a longer, but you don’t know how it’ll turn out. In the American League, Pitchers don’t have to approach the batter’s box and face the arm he has been competing against all night. They are afraid of being buzzed, but if you don’t want to face a 95-mph fastball, then why are you playing baseball? Get buzzed in the arm and take one for your team. Be a man and quit being a coward.

So, I am driving home last night and ESPN decides to send me a text message with the following message: "Source: White Sox Manager, Ozzie Guillen, traded to Marlins for 2 minor league players." What a blow to the ego! The ChiSox won a World Series with Guillen at the helm in 2005, but the ChiSox were ready to see him go after eight years together.

Ozzie had met with ChiSox Chairman Jerry Reinsdorf early yesterday, where Ozzie apparently forced Reinsdorf’s hand to commit to the Guillen on the heels of a disappointing season, or to end the relationship. Well, I guess the ChiSox didn't want to force over money because after the conclusion of last night's game, the White Sox announced that Guillen's tenure was over. Guillen did have a lot to say after the game and it's no surprise that he dropped the 'F' bomb, "More years? F*ck more years,” Guillen said. “I want more money." “I don’t work here for years. No, I want more money. Years? What, I’m going to die poor with the White Sox​? Hell, no.” “I live in Chicago and in the winter you only get drunk and get fat besides watching the Bulls play and the [Black]hawks.”

Well, Ozzie here's to a fabulous time with the Marlins. Also, I think you'll enjoy it there because it's not so cold in Miami.

Manny Ramirez Misses The Good Life

So, Manny retires from MLB back in April because he violated MLB's drug policy. It should be noted that this is his second violation and is facing a 100-game suspension.Well, he got arrested for domestic abuse, tried to join his former Dominican League team, the Aguilas Cibaenas, but he can't since he is an inactive player. Look, Manny. We know you're all about "Manny being Manny", but wisin' up! Major league baseball teams don't want liabilities, only assets. You've won two World Series and you've hit 555 homers and had a .312 average. I'm here to tell you that your attitude has created such a negative image that far outweighs your hitting abilities.You're not a solution, you're a problem. Sit out your 100-games and ship yourself off to Japan because no one cares to see you act like a 12-year old kid.
