Hello, sports world! On today's episode of "Sports Nuts", Sarah is joined in the studio with ESPN.com's horse racing managing editor, Larry Goff. Check us out!
On Monday, Pierre Thomas pulled out a bow to place on a football after he scored a TD, and handed it to a fan. It was a sweet moment, but leave it to the NFL to penalize Thomas 15-yards. Really?! The guy is giving a fan a football. Thomas is being SWEET and the NFL wants to flag him for his behavior? It's ridiculous. I understand penalties against late hits, holding, roughing the kicker, etc. But to penalize a player for being nice and giving a football away is RIDICULOUS!! The NFL should be ashamed of themselves and should reevaluate themselves, quickly. I know the NFL has set-up guidelines and rules about no props allowed, but come on!! It was Christmas. Give the guy a break!!!
The OSU pom squad wanted to show off some of their assets on the ski slopes. I'm not sure why, but I don't think anyone is complaining. Enjoy the view!

I am an opinionated sports fan and if you don't like what I have to say, then don't listen to what I have to say. I get paid to do what I do and I love what I do. :)
OSU played a great game last night, but ISU wanted it more. Coming off a game on 6-days rest and 3 or 4 OT win can wear on a person and a team. ISU flat out beat OSU. OSU played a Good game, but I am happy they lost. Yes, I know that OSU losing ruins OU's chances of reaching the Nat'l Championship Game, by we all know thy without Broyles, that really wasn't goin up happen Sam Bradford being out in 2009-2010 people doubted OU's chances against OU, but OU went INTO Stillwater and beat the Same OSU team that is playing this season (minus Kendall). But I am happy to not have to hear smack from anymore OSU fans. Besides, OSU didnt stand a chance against LSU or Alabama's defense. Neither did OU.
Today's episode was split-up into 3 parts, so do enjoy as we talk about NFL, Eli Manning being a baby, MLB awards the best pitchers and some BassMasters. Enjoy!

Check it out!

Also, we talk about the World Series and other news in the sports world. Tune in!
Hey, sports fans! I hope you've missed us as much as we have missed you. On today's show, Devore and Rogers discuss the World Series, the fall of OU, some NFL action and touch on the latest news and highlights from the sports world. Ch-ch-check it out!
So, Major League Baseball deems it necessary to prohibit major news announcements during the World Series. What a bunch of CROCK! Okay, so if Bud Selig, or Roger Clemens, or Nolan Ryan, or Randy Johnson should happen to pass away during the World Series, MLB won't announce it 'till both teams are 'traveling'? This is the most ridiculous thing I have heard in a really, really long time.
Baseball is my favorite sport. I eat, breathe and sleep baseball. I know the ends-and-outs of the game. I am the only girl that can explain, to you, what the infield fly rule is. I know every pitcher that has pitched a perfect game and I can tell you everything else baseball wise that is thrown my way. I do not hate the game, but I do not like the men who are running the sport into the ground.
Rules that should be changed in MLB, immediately:
1)MLB consists of 162 games, per team. That is a ridiculous amount of games. The season is too long. By the time August rolls around, baseball loses a lot of fans, due to football starting. Yes, the ‘Hunt for October’ is one of many reasons why I love the game of baseball, but in order to capture fans’ attention, MLB has to shorten up the season and walk away from the month of October. Why would someone watch six games during the Regular Season and then wait until October for the Playoffs? The games would mean a lot more if there were only 82 games played during the Regular Season and only fifteen games in the Post Season. A five-game series would put more emphasis on the Series and make it more exciting.
Instead, MLB should structure their season like so:
·Football season tends to end in late January/early February. MLB should seize up this great opportunity! Instead of starting the season in April, start the season in early March. The weather wouldn’t be much of factor and teams wouldn’t have to play in August, where fields can get up to 113 degrees.
·Cut-back games from 162 to 80.
·Only 15 games should be played in the Postseason. It’ll make the Series much more exciting. No one wants to see 162 games played and then have a World Series team be swept. There is no excitement in that. Also, if make the game dull, your team will be penalized.
2)Yes, MLB did try to speed up the game, but are you, Bud Selig, going to punish Josh Beckett, Josh Johnson, Roy Halladay, Roy Oswalt and Cliff Lee because they pitched ‘too slow’? That is what makes the game so great. Pitchers out on the mound, 10,000 fans yelling at them, and it’s just the pitcher and the batter. It’s what I love about the game, but you can’t punish someone because they ‘slowed’ down the game a mere 3 minutes.
3)GET RID OF THE DESIGNATED HITTER!!! Background - In order to boost revenue and scores, baseball team owners gave birth to the DH in 1972. The pitcher’s shouldn’t get a pass, just because they don’t know how to run or hit a ball, but if they can pitch lights-out and hit a pop-fly to RF to help their team score, more power to them. Pitchers should be able to help their team out defensively and offensively. Why can’t the SS only play in the field, but never once shows his face at the plate? The National League brings excitement and in close games, managers must decide whether or not to pinch hit for the pitcher. Then, what should the other team do? Should they keep their pitcher in or go to the bullpen? This may take a longer, but you don’t know how it’ll turn out. In the American League, Pitchers don’t have to approach the batter’s box and face the arm he has been competing against all night. They are afraid of being buzzed, but if you don’t want to face a 95-mph fastball, then why are you playing baseball? Get buzzed in the arm and take one for your team. Be a man and quit being a coward.
Now that I have gotten that off my chest, I am going to leave you with this,
“Pitchers, like poets, are born, not made.” Have a great day!
Buffalo Bills players,Terrence Wheatley and Kirk Morrison, are throwing a Halloween Charity Costume Party. How can you not like someone who would rather improve someone else's life instead of their pocketbooks? I can dig that!
The NBA can be saved! Yes, you heard me. The NBA can be saved by shutting down the WNBA.
Now, before you call me a sexist, I have numbers and stats that will back up my claims.
The NBA averages about 1.6 million viewers, which is the highest the NBA, or anyone for that fact, has seen. The WNBA has seen some improvements, but they give away most of their tickets because they are unable to sell tickets before the actual game. Who wouldn’t pass up on free tickets to the WNBA? Oh, wait…
The WNBA is a joke. A lot of sports writers and sports fans would agree with me on that. There are several people who would disagree with me, but the world wouldn’t be that great if everyone agreed on everything, so to each their own.
Now, the NBA is going through a lot of hardships (I hope you sensed the sarcasm. If not, I feel sorry for you). NBA Commissioner, David Stern, asked for “bailout” money back in 2009 and he was granted $200 million dollars from JPMorgan Chase and Bank of America. But, compared to the WNBA, the NBA is more entertaining. Who wants to watch a two-hour game of basketball with nothing but layups, jump shots and passing.
Compared to the WNBA’s attendance in 2011, the NBA’s attendance in 2011 was staggering. The top 5 teams were:

Hey, sports fans! We have finally reached DOUBLE DIGITS!! On today's episode, Devore and I discuss MLB playoffs, the 2011-2012 hockey season, OU v. KU, OSU v. TX and Mich v. MSU. We will also talk about the No Fun League's upcoming games and other news and highlights. Enjoy!
Hey, sports fans! In today's episode, Devore and Rogers discuss OU's annihilation of the Longhorns, OkState's thumbing of Kansas; Boise State showing why they are legit, TCU joining the Big 12 and Mike Stoops being axed in Arizona. They also discuss MLB playoffs and Theo Epstein's move to ChiTown. In the NFL segment, they talk about the Eagles' downfall and the Bills and Lions dominating. Also, they talk about how the NFC East is the Division to beat. Check it out!
Before there was Mark Cuban, Jerry Jones and George Steinbrenner, there was Al Davis. Some could say, in recent years, the Raiders Owner had lost touch with reality. But, no one could disagree that Davis coached, talked, dreamed and lived the game of football. He was a free-lance scout, a college coach at 21, head coach of the Raiders at 33 and the Raiders' majority owner at 47.
From the mid-60's-early 90's, the Raiders were stunning. Davis signed "outlaw" players that other teams had thrown aside. That was so great about Davis; after everyone threw you aside, you knew you could always land with the Oakland Raiders because Davis would give you a chance to prove everyone wrong (or right).
John Madden, one of the winningest coaches in NFL history, went on to become the youngest head coach in the NFL, when Davis promoted him from Linebackers coach to Head coach, in 1969, at the age of 32.
But, all good things must come to an end. After their victory in Super Bowl XVIII (a 38-9 annihilation of the Washington Redskins), the Raiders went 18 years before finally making it back to the Super Bowl, which they did back in 2003, with a thumping by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 48-21. Ironically, the Buccaneers head coach at the time, Jon Gruden, was fired from the Raiders a year before. Over the 18-year drought, the Raiders failed to make the playoffs 10 times, lost two AFC title games and were bounced out of the postseason in the first three rounds.
Yes, it is sad to see such a football pioneer leave this Earth, but the man did his part by changing the NFL landscape, but it's time for the Raiders to move into a new direction and hopefully, hopefully, win a title or two.
Oh, what a crazy week it has been! I have published Sports Nuts - The Ocho up and on today's episode, Devore and I discuss the Red Sox's collapse, the future of Tony Romo is Dallas, The Michael Vick Saga in Philly, MLB playoffs and so much more. Check us out!!!
After OSU beat Texas A&M on Saturday, Mike Gundy thought it would be "wise" to bust a move. If this doesn't inspire them to beat Kansas after their off week, then I don't know what will. To catch the craziness that is Mike Gundy, check out the video below.
Hey there, fellow sports fans. On today's episode, we discuss Ozzie Guillen's decision to leave the ChiSox, the crazy MLB wild-card races, last weeks NFL games, as well as OSU v. A&M, OU v. Missouri, Michael Vick's hand and the rise of the Buffalo Bills. Check it out!
So, I am driving home last night and ESPN decides to send me a text message with the following message: "Source: White Sox Manager, Ozzie Guillen, traded to Marlins for 2 minor league players." What a blow to the ego! The ChiSox won a World Series with Guillen at the helm in 2005, but the ChiSox were ready to see him go after eight years together.
Ozzie had met with ChiSox Chairman Jerry Reinsdorf early yesterday, where Ozzie apparently forced Reinsdorf’s hand to commit to the Guillen on the heels of a disappointing season, or to end the relationship. Well, I guess the ChiSox didn't want to force over money because after the conclusion of last night's game, the White Sox announced that Guillen's tenure was over. Guillen did have a lot to say after the game and it's no surprise that he dropped the 'F' bomb, "More years? F*ck more years,” Guillen said. “I want more money." “I don’t work here for years. No, I want more money. Years? What, I’m going to die poor with the White Sox? Hell, no.” “I live in Chicago and in the winter you only get drunk and get fat besides watching the Bulls play and the [Black]hawks.”
Well, Ozzie here's to a fabulous time with the Marlins. Also, I think you'll enjoy it there because it's not so cold in Miami.
